REAL appoints TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium as a new CMCS Certification Body
TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium has been appointed as a new certification body under Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd (REAL)’s Compostable Materials Certification Scheme (CMCS).
Apart from the scientific quality of the publication, it is, as is all too often the case, its publication in the press that poses a problem. The study does not mention TÜV AUSTRIA, and the authors do not referrer whether the bags tested were certified or not.
Frontiers recently published the results of a UCL study of home composting among a panel of volunteers in the UK. This article was picked up by the press, turning the findings into catchy headlines, which in turn led to doubts about the ability of certified compostable products to actually compost.
